In 2015, 279,143 breast augmentation procedures were performed in the United States.
If you’re considering getting breast implants, you probably want the most natural looking implants possible. Ideally, people shouldn’t be able to tell that your breasts aren’t your own.
The most natural look for you will depend on a variety of factors. You’ll need to know which look you’re hoping to achieve and understand what’s possible to make it happen.
Wondering which type of implants the experts consider to be the most natural? We’ve done the research so you don’t have to. Let’s get started.
Achieving a Natural Look
It used to be easy to spot a woman who had breast implants from a mile away. However, as the technology and times have changed, so has the Hollywood “bigger is better” mindset.
Over the years, both implant manufacturers and surgeons have refined their approaches. And women have changed their expectations and wants, leading to much more natural-looking breasts.
Here are a few things to consider if you want natural looking breast implants:
The size of an implant is measured in ccs (cubic centimeters) and they come in a wide variety of sizes. They also vary in width and height, which makes it much easier for you and your surgeon to find a combination that will look natural with your body type.
For a natural look, choose a size that will look proportionate to your body. One way to do this is to look at before and after pictures of women with various sizes of implants and similar builds. You can also try samples to get an idea of what you would look like.
Most plastic surgeons offer a few different options when it comes to the shape of the implants. Round implants are symmetrical, while the teardrop design of contoured implants has more weight and fullness at the bottom- just like natural breasts.
Keep in mind that in some cases, a round-shaped implant may actually look more natural since it can also be adjusted in your body to achieve a natural look. According to Dr. Schreiber at Breast Augmentation Maryland, it’s important for surgeons to spend a lot of time with patients to find out the best type and size of implant for them.
Another key consideration is the material you’ll use for your implants. Historically, women had two options: Saline and silicone. Silicone had a bad rap due to outdated FDA guidelines, but today they’re considered to more closely mimic the feel of actual breast tissue.
Now, there’s also a new implant option on the market. Known as “gummy bear,” implants are filled with a thicker type of silicone than the usual silicone implants. This helps them more effectively mimic the natural shape and slope of breasts.
The thicker filling is considered similar to the filling inside the gummy bear candy. And it helps implants maintain a more natural shape. However, many say that they feel firmer than other types of implants and they also require larger incisions.
Want Natural Looking Breast Implants?
As you can see, there are many choices to make when you’re considering breast implants. But the most important factor is the plastic surgeon you choose. A great surgeon will be able to ensure the most natural-looking result, so you’ll fall in love with your new breasts.
